  1. skull fractures - simple, comminuted, depressed, basilar
    1. CM's depend on severity & location - basilar: nose/ear/pharynx/conjunctival CSF draining or bleeding
    2. brain injury
      1. confusion, alt LOC, gag reflex loss, pupillary abn, no corneal reflex, VS changes, sudden neuro dysfx, hearing/vision impair, HA, seizures
      2. Spinal Cord injuries
        1. most frequent are C5-C7, T12, L1
          1. Clinical Manifestations
            1. Central cord - sensory loss/motor deficit in upper extr.
              1. C7-8 - independant, manual wheelchair
                1. C6 - independant in transfer and wheelchair
                  1. C5 - electric/modified wheelchair, needs transfer assist
                    1. C4 - limited to shoulder-head wheelchair
                      1. C1-C3 - sip n puff
                        1. Anterior cord - motor power, pain, temp sensation loss below lesion level
                          1. Lateral cord (brown-sequard) - pain/temp sensation loss on opposite side, voluntary motor loss on same side
