      1. Adult
        1. The adult needs to have intrinsic motivation to be successful. Professional or educational goals may help motivation. Adults needs to prioritize their lives and try to stay motivated to be successful in their online course.
        2. Youth
          1. Youth need to be motivated be successful. If students are not self-started or are lacking motivation, students may struggle at completing assignments on time or efficiently.
        3. eInstructor
          1. Instructors need to continue to motivate students and give positive feedback so students feel supported. Instructors need to alert students early on if they are not meeting expectations of the course.
        4. Organization
          1. eInstructor
            1. The instructor is responsible for the organization of the course. The organization has to be meaningful and make sense to the eLearner as well as the Instructor. A LMS should be used that is well organized and updated frequently. A detailed organized syllabus should accompany the LMS. Organization is one of the key factors in running a successful online course.
            2. eLearner
              1. Youth
                1. Youth need to be especially organized, because they will not have other students or instructors reminding them face to face of assignments due or how to stay on task. Students need to organize materials as well as a timeline of when assignments need to be completed.
                2. Adult
                  1. Adults needs to organize their online course materials to ensure assignments get completed in a timely manner. Not only does the online course and syllabus need to be organized, but the adult truly needs to have their entire life organized so family, friends, work, and class is all prioritized.
              2. Time Management
                1. eInstructor
                  1. The instructor will spend adequate time before the course begins planning, organizing, and managing the LMS. During the duration of the course the instructor will have continued assignments to grade, feedback to give, and will need to monitor discussions and other course work that will be a large time commitment.
                  2. eLearner
                    1. Youth
                      1. The youth needs to be organized and stick to a strict schedule to get work completed in a timely manner. While the student is at home or working on online courses, the student needs to designate time that is not interrupted by other distractions. The your needs to prioritize around online courses.
                      2. Adult
                        1. The adult will spend a significant amount of time trying to balance online courses, professional commitments, job requirements, family, and social life. Much time will need to be set aside for the adult to work on online courses. For the adult to be successful a large time commitment needs to be dedicated to online learning.
                    2. Feedback/Questioning
                      1. eLearner
                        1. Adult
                          1. Sometimes as adults it is hard to ask questions and be assertive for misunderstanding. Adults need to take their learning into their own hands and be sure to ask questions or clarification when needed. Adults also need to be sure to give feedback to the instructor on what's working and not working with the online course.

                            1. Youth needs to make sure to ask questions and take ownership for their own learning. This may look differently for different students, but letting the instructor know that their is a question or clarification needed will help lead to success.

                            1. Instructor needs to give immediate feedback. Instructor should ask frequent questions of students, and be available to answer questions from the students. Communication is key in learning at a distance..
