  1. Organisms can survive in their habitats thanks to specials characteristics that are called adaptations.
    1. Physical Adaptations
      1. Body structures, like beaks of birds, are different, depending on what they eat.
        1. Body Covering
          1. The way an animal’s body is covered can serve as protection from weather conditions and predators.
          2. Camouflage:Hide-and- seek
            1. Animals develop colors and/or shapes that helps them blend in with their surroundings. This kind of adaptation helps them against predators.
        2. Behavioral Adaptations
          1. Behavior is an action that living things do to avoid being attacked or eaten.
            1. Migrations- Moving Away
              1. Some animals travel long distances. They migrate to find warmer climates, find food, raise babies or go back to the place where they were born to reproduce.
          2. Functional Adaptations
            1. Some animals produce substances to defend themselves against predators.
              1. Hibernation
                1. When it is very cold, some animals sleep for a long time.
                2. Estivation
                  1. When it is very hot and dry, some animals remain inactive.
