Pay inequity
1. Over 24 million women were living below the poverty line in 2009.
2. Women make on average 77 cents of every dollar a man makes.
  1. African American women earn only 64 cents and Hispanic women only 55 cents for every dollar made by a white man.
3. Women have to work approximately 60 extra days, or about three months, to earn what men did by the end of the previous year.
4. Women are about twice as likely as men to say they had been discriminated against at work because of their gender.
Poverty of Single Women in Canada

  2. The lack of affordable childcare in Canada also forces mothers to limit their career and education opportunities.

How can we help women out of poverty?
1. Awareness is a key part to ending poverty in woman
  1. if more people are aware of the hardships that woman face it will be easier for us to help these women
2. there are many organizations that work towards helping women and their children out of poverty that could use our help
