Plant's Characteristics of Life
  1. Traits
    1. multiecelluar
      1. (of an organism or part) having or consisting of many cells.
        1. These tiny organisms are unicellular, composed of only a single cell.
          1. The familiar plants, animals and fungi that we can see represent only a tiny fraction of life on Earth. These organisms, being made of more than one cell, are called multicellular.
      2. Producers
        1. a person, company, or country that makes, grows, or supplies goods or commodities for sale.
          1. Producers are any kind of green plant. Green plants make their food by taking sunlight and using the energy to make sugar.
            1. The plant uses this sugar, also called glucose to make many things, such as wood, leaves, roots, and bark. Trees, such as they mighty Oak, and the grand American Beech, are examples of producers
        2. Eukaryotes
          1. an organism consisting of a cell or cells in which the genetic material is DNA in the form of chromosomes contained within a distinct nucleus. Eukaryotes include all living organisms other than the eubacteria and archaebacteria.
            1. Eukaryotes can reproduce both by asexual reproduction through mitosis and sexual reproduction through meiosis.
              1. In meiosis, DNA replication is followed by two rounds of cell division to produce four daughter cells each with half the number of chromosomes as the original parent cell (haploid cells). These act as sex cells (gametes – each gamete has just one complement of chromosomes, each a unique mix of the corresponding pair of parental chromosomes) resulting from genetic recombination during meiosis.
        3. Classification
          1. Nonvascular
            1. Vascular.
              1. Any of various plants that have the vascular tissues xylem and phloem. The vascular plants include all seed-bearing plants (the gymnosperms and angiosperms) and the pteridophytes (including the ferns, lycophytes, and horsetails). Also called tracheophyte. Compare nonvascular plant.
            2. Adaptations
              1. Reproduction
                1. Reproduction (or procreation) is the biological process by which new individual organisms – "offspring" – are produced from their "parents".
                  1. Reproduction is a fundamental feature of all known life; each individual organism exists as the result of reproduction.
                    1. There are two forms of reproduction: asexual and sexual
                2. Transportation
                  1. Transportation is a process of transporting water, minerals and food to all parts of the plant body.
                    1. . Conducting tissues such as xylem and phloem will play an important role in Transportation
                      1. . Water is transported from roots to all parts of the plant by xylem vessels through root hairs.
                  2. Support
                    1. bear all or part of the weight of; hold up
                      1. Stems do many things. They support the plant. They act like the plant's plumbing system, conducting water and nutrients from the roots and food in the form of glucose from the leaves to other plant parts.

                    2. Protection
                      1. the action of protecting someone or something, or the state of being protected.
                        1. the act of protecting or the state of being protected; preservation from injury or harm.
                          1. Protection refers to keeping something or someone safe. Through protection, we shelter and defend things.
