Crops die without this
reaction, so we would
have no source of
food
WHAT?
Photosynthesis - the process plants use
to make food, producing the by-products
of oxygen and glucose
HOW?
Photosynthesis occurs in
the chloroplasts of a leaf
cell.
WHERE?
Chloroplasts containing (the
green pigment) chlorophyll
transfers energy from the
Sun to power the reaction.
PRODUCERS &
COMSUMERS:
A producer is an
organism that
produces its own
nutrients.
EXAMPLES OF
PRODUCERS: A
plant, or a bacteria.
A consumer is an
organism that has to
eat another organism to
survive. Once the
organism is broken
nutrients is then
released into to system.
EXAMPLES OF
CONSUMERS: A
Venus fly trap, or an
animal.
IN & OUT
Water:
The water enters the plant
through the root hair cells and is
transported throughout the plant
in the xylem tube. However, the
water exits the plant as it
evaporates through the leaves.
Gases:
The gases, carbon dioxide and oxygen, diffuse in and
out of the plant using the stomata on the underside
of the leaf. Carbon dioxide goes in and results in
oxygen coming out.
