  1. PRESENT SIMPLE
    1. The "-s" rule
      1. For verbs that end in -O, -CH, -SH, -SS, -X, or -Z we add -ES in the third person: go – goes, catch – catches, wash – washes, kiss – kisses, fix – fixes, buzz – buzzes...
        1. For verbs that end in a consonant + Y, we remove the Y and add -IES: marry – marries, study – studies, carry – carries, worry – worries...
          1. For verbs that end in a vowel + Y, we just add -S: play – plays, enjoy – enjoys, say – says...
          2. AFFIRMATIVE I wake up every day at six am
            1. NEGATIVE She doesn't eat meat with beans
              1. INTERROGATIVE Do they work after five pm?
                1. COMMON TIME EXPRESSIONS - ADVERBS OF FREQUENCY: always, usually/normally, often, sometimes, occasionally, hardly ever, never.
                2. PRESENT CONTINUOUS
                  1. The "-ING" rule
                    1. Rule 1: add ing to most words: mail + ing = mailing carry + ing =carrying
                      1. Rule 2: if the word ends in e, drop the e and add ing: ride + ing = riding take + ing = taking
                        1. Rule 3: if the word is short and ends with a vowel/consonant, double the consonant and add ing: stop + ing = stopping wrap + ing = wrapping
                          1. SPECIAL: if a word has a double e, do not drop the second e: See + ing = seeing change ie to y before adding ing die + ing = dying
                          2. AFFIRMATIVE She is driving her car to work
                            1. NEGATIVE They are not taking it serious.
