Rules
Most verbs take -s in third person singular
Ex: dance - dances, read - reads
Verbs ending in -ss, -sh, -ch, -x take -es
Ex: kiss - kisses, wash - washes
Verbs ending in a consonant + y, drop the y and takes -ies
Ex: study - studies
Verbs ending in a vowel + y, take -s
play -plays, enjoy - enjoys
Present Continuous
Use
A temporary situation
Ex: Lisa is living with friends until she finds an apartment
Something that is happening NOW
Ex: He is playing soccer
Structure
Negative Sentences
For this tense, simply ADD the word NOT after the verbe BE
Ex: They are NOT working today
Affirmative Sentences
I am + VERB -ing
Ex: I am cleaning my house this week
He / she / it + VERB -ing
Ex: Everyone is studying hard
You / we / they + VERB -ing
They are celebrating their 40th anniversary today
