How did Stresemann restore stability to Germany between 1924 and 1929?
He promsed to pay the reperations and he called off the passive resistance
The passive resistance in the rurh was causing germany to be bankrupt
The French and the Belgins left the Rurh
When the workers got back to work Germany was able to start making money again
Because of the willingness to pay off the reperation the Allies were willing to negotiation about reparation payments
introduction of a new currency
The German Mark was destroyed by hyperinflation
They replaced the old currency with a new currency called Rentenmark
This solved the problem of currency and gave the people confidence in it again
This stabilised the value of money and prices returned to normal
He managaed to Negotiate the Dawes plan
This allowed Germany to pay less monthly over a longer period of time
The USA provided loans of 800 million gold marks
The loans from America aloud German to get back on their feet and pay off the reparations
The Negotiated Young Plan
This reduced the reparations payment still further
Because of Germany showing the willingness to co-operate with the Allies this improved Germany relationships with them
This then allowed Germany to join the League of Nations
Germany then enjoyed economic prosperity
After Germany recovered from the crises in 1923 the american banks were willing to loan Germany large amounts of money
The money was spent on 3 million homes new roads and railways were built
As a result of this Germays exports increased as more goods where produced
He brought about political stability
On 9th November 1923 Hitler organised a Munich Putsch but the police and army supported the Stresemann
Hitler had expected the people to rush to support him but the people were happy with Stresemann as he had fixed Germany
This then caused the extremist parties to do badly at the election as the people like things the way they were
