My Ideas for a Board game - work in progress
Theme
Educational
Concept
Players travel round the board discovering and creating inventions
Players travel through different time periods on each board - collecting accolades for discovering and inventing
Example - first player to climb Everest/invent the light bulb/create the cure for polio
Players can decide where to go to and each invention/discovery will amount to a different amount of points
Design/components
Inside the box is a bookshelf made out of clear resin with history related inside
The 'books' (boards made from cardboard) are placed in slots in the bookcase and are pulled out in order
The boards will match the time period - e.g teabag staining the older periods
There will be cards with setbacks e.g avalanche, or the plague but there will be good cards like 'the war has ended'
A dice with and old style
The box will have to be big and it will be styled like an old fashioned suitcase with handles
Target audience
Aimed towards older teenagers/adults/people with an interest in history
This board game will be appealing to history fanatics because of the old look and style of the game
Family friendly
Concept
A family fun board game to talk about things in their life and tell jokes
Each card will ask a player a question, such as 'When was the last time you laughed so hard your belly hurt?' to open up the conversation and share
Other questions will require a player to make another laugh to earn a reward
And some others will require players to be sneaky to win rewards - such as 'Make another player say the word Elephant twice without questioning it'.
Players travel the board and squares ask you to take a question, complete a challenge or move backwards
The winner is the player with the most rewards at the end - the first players back get extra rewards that the last back wont
Design
Board is flat with slots in the board to place 3D objects into
These 3D objects will be places like the cinema, airport, shops etc.
The board with be colourful with trees, roads and sky
The box will be long and slim so it is easily stored
The cards will be slightly smaller than a playing card and will all be shuffled in together so the other players don't know if it's a sneaky card
Opposite side of the board will have bottle caps with clear resin covering it
Target audience
The game will be targeted towards families and younger children
The game would be appealing due to its fun nature and bright colours
