Unit 4.1 Types of Mixtures
  1. A mixture is a pure substance made up of only one substance
    1. A solution is when a substance dissolves into another, forming a clear liquid
      1. A solute is a substance that dissolves to make a solution when it's mixed into another substance
        1. A solvent is a substance that dissolves another substance
      2. When a liquid is soluble that means it's able to be dissolved
        1. A solution which is classified as concentrated means there is alot of solute in the solvent
          1. The term dilute is used to describe when there is little solute in the solution
            1. Types of Suspension
              1. Solid suspended in a liquid
                1. Solid suspended in a gas
                  1. Liquid suspended in another liquid
                2. Types of Solution:
                  1. Gases dissolved in another gas.
                    1. A solid dissolved in a liquid
                      1. Liquid dissolved in another liquid
                        1. Gas dissolved in a liquid
                      2. When as much as a substance can be dissolved that is when it is saturated
                        1. A suspension is when a substance will not dissolve in another and quickly separates out and is left to stand on its own
                          1. When particles spread out without dissolving this is known as disperse
                          2. A substance is insoluble when it doesn't dissolve in a particular solvent
                            1. A solution is aqueous when water is its solvent
