Usually involves meetings between offender and victim, allowing the offender to make amends and see the suffering the crime caused.

Emphasises psychological healing and collaboration.  

Study: Sherman and Strang (2007)analysed studies comparing restorative justice and conventional punishments.  They found restorative justice resulted in reduced recidivism. For victims, desire for revenge and stress were reduced.

Evaluation victims may not always want to meet offender restorative justice can be seen as an easy option programmes vary so much that evaluation is difficult drop-out rates tend to be high
