Exercise 407 Your letter was received by me in the first hour. The column of the enemy has been caught sight of by my horsemen in the second hour. In the third hour, their camp was pitched on a hill which is a mile from the river. They were pitched camp there in order that they might take enough water from the river. I asked whether they also received enough grain. They received enough. Therefore, it behooves us immediately in this to make an attack lest out of fear and effort they receive. And so, i will secretly lead my supplies through the forests, near those hills lest we be caught sight of by the guards.
