3) What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?For my music magazine, the publisher I chose was IPC media. I chose IPC media because it publishes a lot of magazines and this will create a sense of familiarity for the audience making IPC get my magazine more recognition. It is UK’S most leading consumer magazine publisher. IPC media has published music magazines such as NME, which is off a different genre which suggests that there is a gap in the market in the IPC media world. They engage with majority of females which relates to my target audience. IPC has more than 60 iconic brands which suggests their versatility and this is what I wanted my music magazine to be, versatile so that it attracts a lot of the audience who would not usually choose to opt out on buying a R&B & Hip-Hop magazine and this is one of the reasons why IPC might choose my magazine to publish. IPC media is across multiple platforms which is another factor in being versatile as you can tell it is quite an international focused brand. I would say that IPC media is the well-suited brand for my magazine as it relates to a lot of factors I want to include in my magazine. The foundation of my music magazine is to inspire and on their website it says ‘help us tell stories to make a difference’. I would have copies of my magazine online as this would attract my target audience who are fairly young people like to explore online. I would also like to have smartphone or iPad apps as most people have smartphones nowadays.
