IT IS POSSIBLE TO RECREATE HUMAN LIVER IN LAB: Abdullah Chand Jorabat : Abdullah Chand, a scientist pursuing PhD from CMJ University situated in Jorabat, threw light on the details of various types of ailments observed in human liver through a power point presentation. He told that approximately more than 50,000 people in India suffer from liver damage while only for a few amongst them, liver implantations is possible, keeping this in mind three people, Chand, Arun Chandra and Dr. Shiva Ranjan, have brought an innovation by developing human liver in the lab. They added that such a liver implantation would not be a hole in the pocket for common people and would cost approximately 1-2 lakhs only. Dr.TuhinBhaumik and Dr.Sonal Asthana have also been of great help and hascontributed immensely for this development. Dr. Bharti Mittalgraced the presentation with his presence while other eminent personalities included North East’s Cancer Hospital and Research Centre’s director Dr.M.M.Barua, Dr.Medhi, University’s vice chancellorprofessor Dr. Ashok Kumar Chaudhary, etc. Dr.Barua said that being in a scenario where thousands of people are dying in the country due to liver ailments, especially in North-east regions, Dr. Chand’s new invention is quite appreciable and a matter of pride for India.
