For anyone that is having problems with the Critical Reading section of the SAT, below are some examples of how the correct or incorrect answers are explained. This came into us from one of our users so I hope you find it helpful. Thanks Ahmed Elmasry

1. Out of scope: The author never states the idea in the passage

2. Extreme: The author mentions the idea but not how frequently/ to what extent.

3. Distortion: The author mentions a correct idea but adds another that is either not mentioned or not true. 

4. Irrelevant detail: The author mention the idea but in later line (not for the idea you are asked for). 

5. Opposite: The author introduces an idea that is opposite to the one you have.
