Three types of Bonding
Metallic-Mg, Na
Ionic-NaCl, CaCo
Covalent [simple-molecular-Ne and macro-molecular-Daimond]
Metallic Bonding
Formed between single elements from the left of the periodic table (metals)
Strong electrostatic attraction of positive metal ions surrounded by sea of delocalised electrons.
Ionic bonding
Between metals and non metals.
Between oppositely charged ions.
Strong electrostatic attractioon between oppositely charged ions.
Covalent bonding
Between non metals.
Sharing electrons.
Shared pair of electron between two particles.
