After working with Freud for some time, C.G. Jung developed his own theory, which he called "analytical psychology" or the "psychology of complexes" Jung divided the unconscious into two forms: personal and collective. Here, the personal unconscious roughly corresponds to Freud's idea of the unconscious, which contains the individual's forgotten or repressed thoughts and feelings. On the other hand, the collective unconscious is shared by all of humanity. Its content is independent of a person's culture, ethnicity, or life history. Many basic human themes can be found, for example, in legends and fairy tales. These so-called "archetypes" are similar across diverse cultures and time periods. Some examples of these archetypes include characters such as heroes and monsters.
