Banquo
Brave, Noble general. Kids involved in prophecy. Will inherit throne. Represents path Macbeth chose not to take (he chose murder). Therefore, it is Banquo's ghost that haunts Macbeth . Depicted as his rival.
King Duncan
Good king of Scotland who Macbeth murders. His death symbolises the destruction of an order in Scotland that can only be fulfilled when Duncan's family are on the throne
Macduff
Scottish Nobleman, against Macbeth ruling from the start and Plans to overthrow him.
Wants vengeance as Macbeth kills his wife and son. Discovers Duncan's ' body. Christ-like figure.
The Three Witches
Plot mischief against Macbeth using spells and charms. Prompt Macbeth to murder Duncan. Servants of Hecate. Mostly speak in blank verse.
Lady Macbeth
Ambitious and obsessed with power. Appears to become stronger than Macbeth and makes him kill King Duncan, she manipulates him throughout the play. Macbeth and her are shown to be deeply in love.
Macbeth
Scottish general and Thane of Glamis.
Lead to wicked thoughts by the witched and his wife. He is a brave soldier but easily persuaded. Macbeth is not comfortable in killing.
Malcolm
Son of Duncan. His return to the throne represents order after Macbeths reign. Becomes a serious challenge to Macbeth and embodies all that is good in kingship.
Hecate- Goddess of witchcraft, helps the three witches.
Fleance- Banquo's son, survives Macbeth's murder attempt
Lady Macduff- Macduff's wife, her home contrasts Lady Macbeth's hellish home.
