How are mitochondria different in metabolically active cells?
More of them, larger, more densely packed cristae
Smaller, larger matrix
The mitochondria is the site where the link reaction, Krebs cycle and oxidative phosphorylation take place
Mitochondria have two membranes
What is the cristae of a mitochondria?
The outer membrane
The inner membrane
The inside
What does the matrix contain?
Gel like substance made up of proteins and lipids. Also contains looped mitochondrial DNA, mitochondrial ribosomes and enzymes.
Large transport proteins for active transport and many ribosomes for protein synthesis
The putter membrane has a phospholipid composition.
The inner membrane has the same phospholipid composition as the outer membrane.
