Starts with a single cell
containing 46 chromosomes
Each chromosomes duplicates to form an "arm" attached to the side of it and an 'x' shape
'x' shape chromosomes line up it the centre of the cell so that the cell can be split evenly
The cell splits to form two cells, each containing 46 chromosomes, these cells are called daughter cells
Each of the daughter cells will continue to split
