B1.4
Respiration
The two main stages
-light energy splits water into Oxygen has and hydrogen ions
-carbon dioxide combines with hydrogen to create glucose
Wash products
-oxygen is formed
-some is used for the plants respiration
-the rest is released and used for animals and some microorganisms.
Factors effecting photosynthesis- light intensity
Without enough light, a plant cannot photosynthesize very quickly.
-increased light-increased rate of photosynthesis.
Limiting factors- carbon dioxide
-it is one of the reactants (along with water)
-increasing the concentration will increase the rate until there is another limiting factor.
Limiting factors- temperature
-the reaction that combines water and carbon dioxide is controlled by enzymes.
-at low temperatures, the rate of photosynthesis is limited by collisions.
High temperatures cause the enzyme to denature.
