Tectonic Plates
This is what Earth's crust is covered with there are 4 different types of tectonic plates:
conservative, destructive, collision and constructive.
Next page: Plate distribution
Destructive Plate margins
Volcanoes occur on these plate margin. The oceanic crust and continental crust both meet here and the oceanic crust is forced under the continental crust and is melted
Constructive Plate Margins
Constructive margins are where plates move away from each other. An example of this is the mid-Atlantic ridge. Magma rises and the water then cools the molten rock. Creating new land.
Conservative Plate Margins
Two plates move sideways past each other. They do move in the same direction however at different speeds. An example of this is the western coast of the USA.
