of mice and men was written by john steinbeck, although he was a wealthy man he had a huge intrest in farm workers and helped them out and thats how most of his work ideas were created.
The story is written in third person which means the reader really gets a clear and unbiased understanding of the story.
lennie small- is quite quite the oppersite to his name he is described as a big and slow witted character that likes to stroke things because of his huge hands this leads to animals dieing such and the dog he later kills in the book.
crooks is a crippled black guy. meaning he is discriminated on by the rest of the ranch and also has a very bitter view on life ater on in the story he tells lennie to give up on his dream as hes heard far to many similar storys
slim is the most respected guy on the ranch. hes seen as a natural leader and people often ask for his advice
carlson is an insensitive aggresive guy. he often complains and likes stirring trouble carlson also kills candys dog
he'd go to a brothel. lennie then appears sad to george cheers him up by reciting there dream lennie enjpoys petting animals therefore wants rabbits on his farm. they then go sleep ready for their job the next day
ch3- includes dreams and the death of a dog. george opens up to slim we then learn more about george and lennies past. carlson wants to shoots candys dog. he does.candy then over hears george and lennies dream and wants in he offers them his money
most people on the ranch head to town apart form lennie crooks and curlys wife. lennie tells crooks about his dream crooke then tells him to forget his dream as hes heard it all before, however when lennie mentions candys helping to make the dream he soon wants too
ch4- dream is spoiled. it all happens in the barn lennie kills the puppy that slim gave to him and hides it. curlys wife finds out and she starts to open up to lennie about her dreams and why she left home and married curly this is when we realise that curlys wife may just be mis understood
