In Brazil, about seven million people above the age of 18 have diabetes.
A recent study by the Brazilian Diabetes Society, points out that over 60% of them do not know they have the disease.
"It is a chronic disease and should be treated as such, but with information and change of habits, give to be controlled and have quality of life,"
Myth: Diabetes is not passed from person to person.
When a food has a low glycemic index, it slows the absorption of glucose from the blood and therefore stabilizes the disease.
"In general, the exercises improve blood glucose levels, however, when the caloric expenditure is greater than the nutrient replenishment after training, there may be a picture of hypoglycemia, so you must make a monitoring," says nutritionist.

Myth: Even though natural, these foods have sugar like sucrose, greatest villain of diabetics.
In type 1 diabetes, the pancreas loses the ability to produce insulin due to a defect in the immune system, causing our antibodies attack the cells that produce this hormone. Type 1 diabetes occurs in about 5 to 10% of patients with diabetes.
Generally, type 2 diabetes can be treated with oral or injectable medications, however, over time, can occur worsening of the disease. Type 2 diabetes occurs in approximately 90% of patients with diabetes.
Symptoms of Diabetes
Main symptoms of type 1 diabetes:
urge to urinate several times, frequent hunger, constant thirst, weight loss, weakness
fatigue, nervousness, mood swings
nausea and vomiting.
Main symptoms of type 2 diabetes:
frequent infections
visual changes (blurred vision)
difficulty in healing wounds
tingling in the feet and boils.
