Rainforests cover only 6 per cent of the land on our . They grow around . There are rainforests in many parts of the world but the biggest forests are in South America, Africa and South-East Asia. The Amazon rainforest in Brazil is the world's largest tropical and covers 40 per cent of the South American continent. Why do they have such a name? Because they are ! Tropical rainforests get between 2 and 10 meters of rain each year. And the there is about 24–27 degrees Celsius all year round, so it is always hot in a rainforest and the ground is always wet.
