*Ground Tissue: the bulk of the plant body

*Vascular Tissue: conducts water and nutrients throughout the plant

Tracheids: hollow cells with thick cell walls that are connected end to end
Xylem: transports water upwards from the roots
Phloem: transports organic material (produced by photosynthesis) downwards from the leaves

*Bryophytes:

*Gametophytes are the dominant plant in bryophytes and sporophytes depend on the gametophyte for food.

*Relatives of ferns:

*Roots- absorbs the water for the plant

*Leaves- main photosynthetic system for plant

*Stems- support system for the plant
