PhoneGap is used to simplify mobile application development.

PhoneGap was earlier owned by Adobe , and later moved to apache open-source.
PhoneGap is usefull to build native applications for mobile using web technologies like html ,css and java script

Reasons to for using Phone Gap

To sell mobile web apps in varous native app store
To create mobile web apps which also use divice features other than limited browser features
To build quick mobile web apps even before learning native application development
