Some of the glucose is used to make larger and more complex molecules that the plant or algea need to grow.These make up the organism's called biomass (the mass of a living material).

The energy stored in the other organism's biomass then works its way though the food chain as animals eat them and each other.So ultimately photosynthetic organism's support nearly all life on earth.

Photosynthesis happens inside the chloroplasts- they contain chlorophyll which absorbs light. Energy is transferred to the chloroplasts from the environment by light.

Photosynthesis actually happens in two main stages.First the energy is transferred by light and is used to split water int oxygen and hydrogen ions.

Cardon dioxide then combines with the hydrogen ions to make glucose.
