The Zoo Licensing Act 1981
Includes zoos, safari parks, butterfly collections, aquariums
Smaller collections get special dispensation, but still have to met standards
Act does not apply to circuses or pet shops
EC Directive 1999/22/EC
The Zoo Licensing Act (Amendment) (England and Wales) Regulations 2002

Llamas and alpacas were no longer considered "wild animals" under the Act
Vertebrate animas also protected by Animal Welfare Act 2006
