Bacteria that cause disease are known as commensals.

When humans undergo chemo[blank_start]therapy[blank_end] or become infected with human immunodeficiency virus 1 (HIV-1) they become immune-[blank_start]compromised[blank_end]. Some bacteria an take advantage of this, and cause disease when we are at our weakest. We call these bacteria [blank_start]opportunistic[blank_end] pathogens.

Pneumonia is a common infection of the [blank_start]lungs[blank_end] that can be life threatening. Pneumonia can be caused by infection with many different bacteria, such as: Klebsiella [blank_start]pneumoniae[blank_end], Neisseria [blank_start]meningitidis[blank_end] and Staphylococcus [blank_start]aureus[blank_end].
