Electronic device or object capable of detecting
real-life conditions and interpreting what it has detected into data
that the device can understand.
A good example of a sensor is a motion sensor that may
be connected to a computer to help detect motion within a building.
Other sensors may detect heat, light, radiation, and sound. The picture
shows a Microsoft Fingerprint sensor and reader, a hardware device that
allows you to identify yourself with the computer using your finger.
Lines of different widths and sizes representing data, that when read determine what the scanned object is. Barcodes
are often used to help organize and index information or prices about
an object. Barcodes used by the U.S. postal service that helps speed the
delivery of mail is another perfect example of how a barcode could be
used. The picture is an example of what a barcode of an address.
