When there is no living organisms present within an environment with new organism colonizing the area will rely on favorable environmental conditions to allow them to successfully live and reproduce ( Abiotic Factor) . Biotic is when a variety of species is present within the ecosystem , the actions of these species can affect the lives of other species. The distribution of species describes where they are found. The abundance of species determines how the members of the species live throughout the ecosystem. Abiotic and Biotic factors affect the distribution and abundance of organism in an ecosystem.
Generally, Abiotic features in Australia such as rainfall, temperature and land form patterns affect the distribution of vegetation and ecosystems. Abiotic factors such as high temperature and high rainfall create a suitable tropical environment for this type of ecosystem. The abundance organisms within the ecosystem depending on the Biotic factors: Availability/ abundance of food number of mates number of predators number and variety of disease causing organisms Ecologists usually wish to determine the size and density of a population. (Density: A reflection of the number of organism that environment can support.) Two main questions: Why is a species only present in particular places? What determines the number of individual size of the population in one particular place?
