The sun produces ultraviolet radiation. UV radiation can cause: premature skin ageing skin cancer cataracts in older people sunburn

Sunscreen is a way of protecting yourself from harmful UV. The higher the factor the longer amount of time you can safely stay out in the sun.

Safe time =Recommended Exposure time x Sunblock factor

People with darker skin can stay out longer in the sun since their skin absorbs more UV radiation so less reaches body tissue underneath
