Kinetic Molecular Theory states the following:*matter made up of particles constantly moving.*All particles have energy, the amount of energy depends on if the substance is a solid, liquid or gas* The temp. of a substance is a measure of the average kinetic energy of the particles. *A Change in state may occur when energy of particles is charged.*There's spaces between particles of matter.*There's attractive forces between particles and they become stronger as the particles move closer together.*When particles are extremely close ,repulsive forces increase. Verifying the particulate nature of matterBrownian motion and diffusion provide evidence of the particulate nature of matter Brownian MotionThe random movement of microscopic particles suspended in liquid or gas.The movement caused by collisions with molecules of the surrounding gas/liquid.The random movement supports the kinetic molecular theory. DiffusionIs the spontaneous movement of a substance from an area of high concentration of that substance to an area of lower concentration.Gasses diffuse much faster than liquids. This supports the Kinetic molecular theory as particles must move to mix and particles move faster in gas.
