longitudinal waves Longitudinal waves have rarefactions which is when the particles are spread out. Compressions are when the particles have been squashed together When sound travels, it travels in a longitudinal wave

transverse waves the amplitude and wavelength on a transverse wave is perpendicular (meet at a right angle) all the time. when light travels, it travels in a transverse wave the crest is the highest point of a wave. the tough is the lowest point of a wave.
