So far we have discussed angles, depth of field, and even lighting. Now I want to address the kind of story you want to tell. Pictures tell stories. They can be interesting stories or boring ones, all depending on how well you tell them through you photograph. The lighting is one way you can create an effective story. Also, how you lay the photo out, takes a toll on creating a good story. Our goal is to make a story which is so interesting, that people want to take the time to understand the story.
One of the first things you need to be watching for in your "story" which you will be trying to create is the mood. Do you want a cheerful mood, or would you rather have a gloomy mood? The dark mood creates a mysterious feeling, along with fog. You can make your settings in your camera look darker on a cloudy day to create a mysterious effect. Here is another example of a mysterious mood/story.How you set the photo up is also important.Props and nature help set up stories, use your creative thinking to create a story. Here is an example: (see below) Notice the dark tones create more of a mysterious mood - or sad mood - she's missing something!I want you to take a few photos and create stories from them. Use props, and your creativity to tell a story. :)
