CELL DIVISION IN AN ANIMAL CELL

CELL DIVISION IN AN ANIMAL CELL

nucleus divides first and the two daughter nuclei separate then the cytoplasm divides to form two new cells called daughter cells this is called BINARY FISSION

form of reproduction (animal cells) results in growth (human cells) increases its number of cells (multicellular organisms)

thread like structures found in every nucleus of every living cell each chromosome carries information which is necessary for the development of the cell

every species has a fixed number of chromosomes in each cell

human chromosome number is 46

type of cell division

nucleus divides so the new cells have the same number of chromosomes as their parent cells

ne

new cells have the exact same genetic info as parent cells

the chromosomes are not seen in the nucleus the chromosomes double to make two chromatids the chromosomes line up at the middle of the cell the chromatids separate and move to opposite ends of the cell the chromosomes form a nucleus in each daughter cell mitosis is complete

mitosis must occur before cell division to ensure the new cells produced have the correct chromosome number (which ensures they function properly)
