proteins are mad up of chains of amino acids linked together by peptide bonds

structural - keratin found in skin and gives toughness, also is the protein that makes up hair and nails hormones - chemicals that act as messengers and affect how living things develop and behaveantibodies - large molecules that help fight off infections

enzymes are biological catalysts  speed up reactions  each enzyme is specific for its substrate  the area where the enzyme and substrate meet is called the active site, which matches its shape to the substrate

factors that affect enzymes are: pH temp

enzymes have a certain Ph and temp which they work best at and thats called their optimum

when a factor goes much above or blow the optimum the enzymes function slows down and if the change is irreversible the enzyme can become denatured and the active site is no longer able to fit the substrate into the enzyme
