Página 1

When a lot of data has to be represented it can be put into a frequency tableEG. This table shows how many times students in a form were late in a weekNumber Of Times Late     0     1     2     3     4     5Frequency                          11     8    3     3     3     2

Find the mode - looking for the data with the highest frequencyFind the median - adding up all the frequencies of the data items, in order, until the half-way pint of all the data in the set it passedFind the mean - multiplying the value of each data item by its frequency, adding the totals, then dividing by the total of all the frequencies

REMEMBER- THE MODE IS THE VALUE THAT HAS THE HIGHEST FREQUENCY, IT IS NOT THE FREQUENCY ITSELF - IN EXAMS, DATA IS USUALLY GIVEN IN VERTICAL TABLES. ADD ANOTHER COLUMN TO WORK OUT x X F (VALUE MULTIPLIED BY THE FREQUENCY)
