Physical Properties of Transition Metals:

Chemical Properties of Transition Metals:

Use Electron Configurations (Topic 2 Review): When it is ending in 4s2 3d4 and 4s2 3d9, promote to 4s1 3d5 and 4s1 3d10 Always remove from 4s sub-level first Energy of 4s and 3d sub-levels are relatively similar, therefore it is relatively easy to remove one electron from the 3d sub-level

Exception: Zinc and Scandium They are not considered "transition metals" since they have complete 3d sub-level They are also colorless

C

Colors of Transition Metals:

CONFUSED

Color Reflected:The complementary color of the color(s) that was absorbed by the chemical substance
