10 FACTS TO KNOW BEFORE TAKING THE MCAT

1) In 2013 only 1 out of 6 students who applied to Medical School in Ontario were accepted so competition is tough, and only getting tougher.

2) MCAT prep costs A LOT. Study courses range from $595 to a whopping $7800, not including the cost of actually writing the test.

3) Only 11 out of the 17 Medical Schools in Canada actually require that students write the MCAT.

4) You have less than a minute to answer each question so timing is crucial.

5) Taking the MCAT a second time to improve your score slightly will have little to no effect on your acceptance and may actually be detrimental.

7) The purpose of the MCAT is to test students at the same level, removing all external or others factors.

6) The average score on the MCAT is 24/45 which is the equivalent of a C-

8) Med School tuition in Ontario averages at $22,000 per year.

9) It’s recommended by successful MCAT writers, to study for about 640 hours in total, that’s 40 hours a week for 4 months.

10) The MCAT has a reputation for being the most difficult standardized test...ever. Be prepared to put in lots of work but if you do, you'll get the score you want and feel invisible!
