Distance time graphs:Speed = distance/timeTo work out speed from a distance time graph you would pick two points and find the distance covered between the points and the time it took. Put them in an equation
Velocity The speed and direction in which an object is moving.Accelerationhow quickly an object's velocity changes.
ForceA push or pull upon an object resulting from the object's interaction with another object.
Force diagram:The direction of each arrow shows the direction of each force. The length of each arrow is preportional to the size of the force.Upthrust is the upwards force on the object. In water this is called buyoncy.Air resistance is friction caused by movement through the air.
Forces:If all arrows are equal, object is stationary.Stationary objects:Balanced forces/0 , moving at constant speedObject accelerating/decelerating:Thrust force is larger, friction force larger
Mass:How much of an object there isWeight:force acting on an object due to gravity
What does the breaking force needed to stop this car depend on ? Mass of vehicle- greater force is needed to cause deceleration speed of vehicle- the higher the speed the greater the deceleration needed to stop it in a certain distance. Therefore bigger force.
Stopping distance of cars canbe broken down in to two sections :Thinking Distance-Reaction time before you react and brake.Breaking distance-Distance covered while decelerating to a standstill.
