The biggest problem with the [blank_start]Paris[blank_end] Peace Conference was that the Big [blank_start]3[blank_end] all wanted different things. The American President [blank_start]Woodrow Wilson[blank_end] didn't want a harsh [blank_start]treaty[blank_end] and wanted to set up an organisation called the [blank_start]League of Nations[blank_end] to prevent any future wars. The French Prime Minister Georges [blank_start]Clemenceau[blank_end] wanted revenge against Germany, wanted to make Germany pay for the war ([blank_start]Reparations[blank_end]) and demanded that Germany never be able to attack France again. The British Prime Minister David Lloyd George wanted to weaken Germany's [blank_start]navy[blank_end] and make them pay for the war (Reparations) but felt the French demands were too extreme.

Pregunta 20

Pregunta
The League of Nations was set up in 1920 as a result of the Treaty of [blank_start]Versailles[blank_end]. It's main purpose was to be an international forum in which countries could work out their disputes in a [blank_start]peaceful[blank_end] manner. It's policy of [blank_start]collective security[blank_end] obliged members to act together to prevent strong countries from attacking weaker ones. But the League was weak from the beginning. The [blank_start]United States[blank_end] refused to join, although it's president, Woodrow [blank_start]Wilson[blank_end], was first to propose the setting up of the league. Entry was at first denied to [blank_start]Germany[blank_end] because of it's role in World War 1. The [blank_start]USSR[blank_end] (Russia) was excluded from the League until 1934 because it had a [blank_start]Communist[blank_end] government. The weakness of the government was exposed when it did nothing to prevent Italy from invading [blank_start]Abyssinia[blank_end].
Respuesta
  • Versailles
  • peaceful
  • collective security
  • United States
  • Wilson
  • Germany
