It was a condition of peace that Germany got rid of the Kaiser, however he refused to abdicate. How did the Germans get rid of the Kaiser? (3 correct answers)

  • All the mutinies led to strikes and demonstrations against the war and the Kaiser all over Germany, so soldier's and worker's councils had taken over some cities. Many were looking to only end the war, however a few wanted a total revolution like the Bolshevik Revolution.
  • Social Democrats sent an ultimatum to the Kaiser that unless he abdicated they would join the revolution.
  • One of the Social Democrats announced the abdication of the Kaiser (this had not been agreed upon) and so the Kaiser fled to Holland.
  • The Social Democrats blackmailed Kaiser Wilhelm with a mistress that they would announce to Germany if he did not abdicate.
