SEM Competency Test

Descripción

In order to be granted access to an SEM after hours you are required to pass a competency test. You must answer all questions correctly. Please note that Adelaide Microscopy staff reserve the right to refuse after-hours access until an adequate level of competence on the instrument is demonstrated. Completion of the competency test does not guarantee access.

  • Always kept under vacuum – before finishing a session the chamber must be pumped.
  • The chamber must be vented at the end of a session
  • Doesn’t matter

It is dangerous to move the stage when the sample is first inserted. You must first:

  • Leave the stage where it is
  • Get the sample into focus and link to the working distance
  • Move to 10mm immediately

If the sample is not at the correct working distance you won’t:

You can’t get an image, what do you check first:
