This module aims to introduce students to the context of tax in the UK including: the general objectives of the UK tax system; the administration of the tax system; the different types of tax in the UK; and the ethical principles that relate to undertaking tax engagements. Students will learn how to calculate income tax, national insurance contributions, capital gains tax, corporation tax and VAT in straightforward scenarios.
