Learning Strategies are study skills, or methods for gathering information or improving skills.  To learn is to acquire information, or facts, and to study is to try to learn. Facts are information, or facts/ knowledge. Methods are techniques, or ways of doing things. Skills are talents, or natural abilities. Abilities are what You can do. Taking notes is an example of a learning strategy, study skill, and the ability to gather any information that will help you in the long run.

Transcription is the art of taking notes and studying skills involve any ability to learn, or acquire information.

Transcription is the art, or skill, of taking notes and there are many ways to transcribe information including but are not limited to writing/typing/sketching/photographing or copying info. In other words, transcribing is making note of anything that will help you in the way that best fits you. Different ways to take notes include but are not limited to making Bullet/Power Points, Outlines, concept maps, sketches, lists, questions, key words/phrases, and one-pagers. One-pagers are a single-set study guide that can be used to review for tests, quizzes, final exams or other measurements of learning called assessments. Examples of one-pagers including but are not limited to summaries, synopses and anything else that only takes up 1 page.

Taking notes is one way to study, or try to learn and other learning strategies include but are not limited to reading the chapters in your textbooks/headings on your hand-outs or other class materials. Research is another learning strategy that involves looking up information and there are materials available online as well as offline that can help you in your classes, on the job, and in your everyday lives at large. Review Games are another example of a study skill and you can create your own games with your very own questions that relate to any or all of your classes. Creative expression is another example of a learning strategy that can facilitate adaptation in spite of logistical, environmental, and societal constraints at large.

In fact, all of your classes are examples of General Studies according to research online. Benefits of General Studies include a variety of options after graduation even if you decide not go to college. The training material relating to your chosen jobs in your chosen academies are examples of General Studies. Yet the General Education courses in college exemplify General Studies.

Tests are formal assessments, or measurements of learning, that are a large part of your grade. Tips for taking tests, quizzes, or any assessment include but are not limited to: A. Reading the directions and items at least to to three times to get clarity before completing the assignment. B. Answers the questions or solving the problems that you know that you know first. C. Skipping the ones that you have no idea so that you will have time to work on the items that you do know or think that you know. D. Come back to the questions or problems skipped so that you can make an edit guess. E. Double check your work to ensure that you've answered the questions.

Here is a basic structure on how to write an essay, or nonfictional prose with several paragraphs with several sentences each: A. Introduction = opening paragraph that states the topic and two to four reasons that justify the topic B. Body = at least one middle paragraph that backs up the main ideas in the first paragraph  C. Conclusion = summary of the topic and justification in the first paragraph in about three to five sentences  Hint: You can write your essay that states what the paper is about and the purpose of the paper in about 3 to 5 sentences. To keep the flow, you can use transitional words including but not limited to: Yet, Also, Additionally, However, Furthermore, First, Next, Then, Finally, Thus
