What's an Indictment Definition: a formal charge or accusation for a serious crime Clearer Definition: A person charged or accused for a crime Indictment means that a person was accused but not sent to jail and can also mean that a person was sent to jail. In the story Shemar Carson, a unarmed 17 year old black male, was shot and killed by a Nevada police officer that was accused of reaching for the officer's gun during an arrest. Justyce has been following the case and tells us that there were no witnesses at the crime scene and he was shot 4 times.   In Chapter 3, we find out that the Nevada cop did not receive an indictment for the killing for Shemar Carson. In Chapter 1, Justyce was indicted for allegedly trying to rape Melo. In Chapter 2, Quan Banks received an indictment for killing Officer Castillo.   *Reflect on the difference between each character indictments.    What makes them different?    Why does Quan get indicted for the same crime the Nevada cop committed?
