Verb Conjugation (Polite From)

      To change a verb from “Dictionary Form” into “Polite Form,” change the last syllable of the verb from (う) form to (い) form.                                                                       (Ex:)    わかる。(“to understand”)  =  わかり。          If the verb ends in (いる) or (える), drop the (る).                                                                                                          (Ex:)  おきる。(“to get up”)  =  おき。         Then add verb ending to verb to conjugate for past or present tense, and to make negative or affirmative.                                                                             “Do/Will Do”:                        〜ます。                                                   “Don’t Do/Won’t Do”:            〜ません。                                                    ”Did Do/Have Done”:            〜ました。                                          ”Didn’t Do/Haven’t Done”:            〜ませんでした。                                                         (Ex:)   わかる。=  わかり。=  わかります。                                                       (Ex:)   おきる。=  おき。=  おきました。                                                                                                                          (Irregulars/Exceptions):     する。(“to do”)   します。しません。しました。& しませんでした。                                                                                                            くる。(“to come”)     きます。きません。きました。&  きませんした。          

Verb Conjugation (Casual/Plain Form)

"Do/Will Do:"   Keep verb in "Dictionary (う) From." and drop (ます) from end.                                                                       (Ex):  　わかる。("I understand.")   "Don't Do/Won't Do:"   Change from "Dictionary (う) Form," to (あ) Form                                                                  & add (ない) to end.                                                                                                         (Ex):  　わからない。   (" I don't understand.")      "Did/Have Done:"    If verb ends in (う/つ or る）Drop last syllable and add（った）to end.                                   (Ex): 　あう。 ＝　あった。   ("I met.")  If verb ends in (ぶ/ぬ or む）Drop last syllable and add（んだ）to end.                                      (Ex):   のむ。＝　のんだ。  ("I drank.") If verb ends in（く） Drop last syllable and add（いた）to end.                                     (Ex): 　かく。＝　かいて。  ("I wrote.")  If verb ends in（ぐ） Drop last syllable and add（いだ）to end.                                   (Ex): 　およぐ。＝　およいだ。  ("I swam."　 If verb ends in（す） Drop last syllable and add（した）to end.                                   (Ex):   はなす。＝　はなした。  ("I spoke.")  If verb ends in（いる／える）Drop（る）and add（た）to end.                                 (Ex):  みる。＝　みた。 ("I watched.")     "Didn't/Haven't Done:"  Change from "Dictionary（う）Form," to（あ）Form                                                               & add（なかった）to end.                                                      (Ex):   わからなかった。 ("I didn't understand.")                                                                                   (Some additional rules):   If verb ends in（う）for negative conjugations, change to（わ) then, add ending.                                       (Ex): 　 かう。("I buy/will buy.")    ＝　かわない。("I don't buy/won't buy.")   If verb ends in（いる／える）Drop（る) and add ending.                                    !! [Except for ("Do/will do") Present/Casual/positive) !!                                                                                                  (Ex):   おきる。 ("I sleep/will sleep.") ＝ 　おきない。("I don't get up/won't get up.")   You can add（です）at the end to make the sentence more polite.                                 (Ex:): 　わからなかったです。  ("I didn't understand.")    [Still casual, but more polite]                                             (Irregulars/Exceptions):   　　　　　　         する。＝　しない。＝　すった。＝　しなかった。   ("To do.") 　　　　       ある。＝　ない。＝　あった。＝　なかった。    ("To be.")    [Inanimate] 　　　                いく。＝　いかない。＝　いった。＝　いかなかった。 ("To go.")                               くる。＝　こない。＝　くった。＝　こなかった。　("To come.")
